What Is Double Face Weaving?
In the realm of textile artistry, few techniques are as technically demanding — or as visually captivating — as Double Face weaving. At vonoz cashmere, our Double Face Collection showcases this rare mastery: reversible cashmere shawls woven as one unified cloth, with two distinct faces and no visible seams.
Two Sides. One Fabric.
Unlike lined garments or stitched layers, Double Face weaving involves a single process in which two layers of fabric are woven simultaneously — yet remain joined at exact, calculated points. This results in a shawl that appears fully finished on both sides, often with complementary colors or patterns, and completely without lining or topstitching.
A Tradition Refined by vonoz
This technique is traditionally used in luxury tailoring — think reversible coats or scarves — but at vonoz, we bring it into the world of Kashmiri cashmere, adding softness, flow, and intricacy. In some cases, we combine Double Face weaving with Kani patterns or Sozni embroidery, creating true collector’s pieces.
The Benefits Beyond Beauty
A Double Face shawl offers true versatility: two colors in one piece, no exposed stitching, and a luxurious hand feel on both sides. It’s ideal for travel, layering, or styling in multiple ways — each face offering a new expression.
Why It Matters
Most shawls are finished on one side and backed or lined on the other. A true Double Face piece is woven, not assembled. It requires skill, patience, and deep structural understanding — and very few workshops in the world can execute it to perfection. vonoz is one of them.
