Layers of Legacy — Double Face Kani & Sozni Embellishment

Where weaving and embroidery converge in perfect harmony.

At vonoz cashmere, tradition is not a limitation, but a canvas for innovation. While the Kani weaving technique is itself one of the most intricate and revered forms of textile art, our atelier pushes its boundaries even further—with Double Face Kani shawls and the addition of Sozni hand embroidery.

Double Face Kani: Two Worlds in One Shawl

A Double Face Kani shawl is a marvel of technical mastery. Woven simultaneously on both sides, it is fully reversible—each side featuring a distinct yet harmoniously related design or color palette. The process is exceptionally demanding, requiring absolute precision and two master weavers working in unison. Every thread must be planned to serve both faces of the shawl, a choreography of yarns that results in a piece of astonishing complexity and beauty.

Unlike simpler reversible fabrics, the Double Face Kani is not printed or stitched back-to-back—it is one continuous weave, fully integrated from edge to edge. This rare technique allows for deeper expression, contrasting narratives, and dual moods in a single wearable work of art.

Sozni on Kani: Embroidery Meets Architecture

The architectural clarity of Kani weaving provides the perfect foundation for a layer of delicate, narrative-rich Sozni embroidery. Our artisans often apply micro-fine Sozni work—using a single thread and a steady hand—to enhance the motifs already woven into the shawl. In other cases, entirely new motifs are embroidered over the surface, creating a breathtaking interplay of geometry and softness, structure and soul.

This fusion of techniques is not just decorative—it is philosophical. Kani offers form and foundation; Sozni adds emotion and story. When combined, they elevate the shawl from an object of beauty to a living heirloom.

True Exclusivity, Woven and Stitched by Hand

To create a Double Face Kani with Sozni embroidery is to spend months—sometimes years—on a single piece. It demands vision, patience, and the collective genius of multiple master artisans. No two shawls are ever alike. And no machine in the world can replicate their depth, subtlety, or soul.

This is luxury without compromise.
